Many long distance trains changed locos at Birmingham New Street, often from diesel to electric or vice versa. There were waiting diesel locomotives often to be found in the centre roads such as this peak, 45 134 waiting to take-over a southbound train on 18 April 1987. I travelled behind this back to Gloucester. click here to enlarge.
