Dawlish
On Saturday 26 July 1986, while my family were doing more sensible things like relaxing in Torquay, I decided to spend the day
taking pictures of trains at Dawlish! All the pictures on this page were taken that afternoon. This first picture shows an HST heading southbound
along the seafront.
50 025 is seen emerging from Kennaway Tunnel and about to pass along the seafront with a northbound train.
There are five tunnels in quick succession on the coastal section of line between Teignmouth and Dawlish. In this picture, 50 041
has just emerged from Coryton Tunnel and is about to enter Kennaway Tunnel.
47 435 has stopped at Dawlish station and is waiting to depart with a southbound train.
This view shows a southbound HST arriving at Dawlish station.
This picture is taken from a footbridge just to the north of the station. It is now early evening and
50 030 waits to depart with a northbound train. Next stop will
be Exeter. After taking this picture, I walked back to the station and caught the next train to Paignton which was
hauled by 47 588. What better way to round off the day!
