In the background are the premises of Vic Berry Ltd, which was a scrapyard
well known for dismantling redundant locomotives and rolling stock. The whole
area in this picture is now a housing estate.
31 447 is pictured arriving at Hinkley station with a Birmingham to Norwich train on 15 June 1987.
20 114 is seen heading up the Wirksworth branch on 22 April 1989
with the 'Denby Dawdler' special which started from Derby and made three return
trips to both the Wirksworth and Denby freight-only branches. 20 127 was on the rear
of the train.
47 054 is seen heading a northbound tanker train through Loughbourgh on
17 July 1990. The buildings in the background are part of the Brush Works
where many BR locomotives, including some class 47's, were built.
Earlier the same day, 37 510 and 37 512 head a steel coil train southbound past
Radcliffe-on-Soar power station. The train is destined for the steelworks at Corby.
47 443 is seen standing by the signal box at Wellingbourgh station on 15 June 1987.
47 049 is seen passing through Wellingbourgh with a northbound tanker train the same day. On the right,
47 204 is waiting in the station with a parcels train.
