This picture of 47 613 with a train of parcels stock was taken from the level crossing at Horton Road, Gloucester. Part of the barrier mechanism can be seen in the foreground. I took this picture on 4 July 1987 whilst walking to the station after having parked my car in Great Western Road. I was on my way to Crewe works open day.   click here to enlarge.

50 001 at Gloucester on 25 January 1986. The loco is standing in the short siding at the end of platform 1, waiting to take over a morning Cheltenham to Paddington train. In the background are two class 08 shunters. At this time, Gloucester had an allocation of four such locomotives.   click here to enlarge.

50 047 seen arriving at Cheltenham with a Cardiff to Glasgow/Edinburgh train on 28 May 1986. The class 50 would have worked the train as far as Birmingham New Street where an electric loco would take over.   click here to enlarge.

Standish Junction is situated seven miles south of Gloucester and is where the lines to Swindon and Bristol diverge. In this view of 47 220 taken on 6 June 1988, the line to Swindon, via Stroud is seen curving away to the left.   click here to enlarge.

This view shows the private industrial shunter at Stonehouse coal depot on 4 June 1986. The loaded coal hoppers had been dropped off a few minutes earlier by 37 230. The depot closed in 1987 and was situated on the Gloucester to Bristol line about one mile south of Standish Junction. I'm not sure what happened to the loco. (anyone?)   click here to enlarge.
