Ledbury Area

Ledbury is situated on the line from Hereford to Worcester and is the only passing place on the single track section between Shelwick Junction(Hereford) and Malvern. In this picture, taken on 13 May 1990, 47 583 is seen emerging from the 1316 yard long single track Ledbury Tunnel with a Sunday afternoon train from Paddington to Hereford. click here to enlarge.

Ledbury Viaduct is about half a mile to the west of the station and is seen here being crossed by 47 583, the same train as in the first picture. click here to enlarge.



Six miles to the east of Ledbury is Malvern Wells signal box where the double-track section from Worcester becomes single. There is no station here. 47 820 is seen passing with another Paddington To Hereford Sunday afternoon train on 30 June 1991. The train is gathering speed after stopping at Great Malvern, about a mile from this location. click here to enlarge.
