Class 40 no. 40122 / D200 is pictured at Bethnal Green whilst waiting at a red signal before running in to Liverpool Street station to work a railtour to York via Norwich on 16 April 1988. Upon arrival at York, the loco was handed over to the National Railway Museum. click here to enlarge.

No prizes for guessing the location of this picture! 50 006 was actually the first class 50 to be broken up, although not the first to be withdrawn. The picture was taken on 12 July 1986 and less than 2 years later, this engine had ceased to exist. click here to enlarge.



31 465 and 47 582 are seen in the late evening of 24 October 1987 at Paddington. This was a 'Network Day' which provided unlimited travel within the whole Network SouthEast area of BR for just £6. In addition to the bargain price, some special traction was laid on in certain places such as the Watford to St Albans branch, where 33 102 and a 4TC unit were employed for part of the day. click here to enlarge.
