Newton Abbot

A southbound HST is seen departing from Newton Abbot on 3rd January 1987. The station was resignalled about three months later and the gantry has been preserved at a near-by industrial estate. click here to enlarge.

Aller Junction is situated one mile south of Newton Abbot. In this view, taken on 7 Feburary 1987, the branch from Paignton can be seen on the left, while an Inter-City livered class 47 is seen approaching with a northbound train from the Plymouth direction. All pointwork was removed from this location during the resignalling scheme of 1987. click here to enlarge.
