Newton Abbot to Totnes
A southbound HST is seen departing from Newton Abbot on 3rd January 1987. The station was resignalled about three months
later and the gantry has been preserved at a near-by industrial estate.
50 030 is seen departing from Newton Abbot station with a southbound train on 26 July 1986.
The gantry at Aller Junction gives the all-clear for this HST to take the Paignton line on 3rd January 1987.
Aller Junction is situated one mile south of Newton Abbot. In this view, taken on 7 Feburary 1987, the branch
from Paignton can be seen on the left,
while an Inter-City livered class 47 is seen approaching with a northbound train from the Plymouth direction. All pointwork
was removed from this location during the resignalling scheme of 1987.
50 016 is seen heading south, having just taken the Plymouth line at Aller Junction on 3rd January 1987.
50 024 is seen emerging from Dainton tunnel with a southbound train on 2nd Feburary 1987.
50 013 powers through the centre-road at Totnes on 20 September 1986.
The next southbound train was this one, headed by 50 041, seen just pulling into the station. I caught this train to
Plymouth in order to take a trip up the the Gunnislake branch.
