This picture was taken on 5 July 1991 and two years later the empty area on the right became sidings for a newly
opened coal import terminal.
On 7 March 1987, DMU no. B450 is seen passing Hallen Marsh Junction near Avonmouth, with a
train for Bristol. This area was still signalled by semaphores in 1987. The single track that disappears into the middle
distance is the final two miles of branch to Severn Beach. The line to the right in the background forms a freight-only
connection from this industrial area to Bristol Parkway.
Single car unit no B126 is seen waiting at Severn Beach station before beginning the return journey to Temple Meads on 7 March 1987.
