Tytherington branch

The six mile long branch to Tytherington Quarry divirges from the Bristol to Gloucester main line at Yate Middle Junction. In this picture taken in the evening of 25 April 1988, a class 56 hauled train is seen curving off the branch from the left and is rejoining the main line. click here to enlarge.

56 031 at Tytherington Quarry on 27 April 1990. The branch, which once continued to Thornbury was actually completely closed and lifted in the 1960's and then relaid as far as the quarry in the early seventies. click here to enlarge.
